Rodney Childers Joins JR Motorsports for 2026 Season
JR Motorsports has officially announced the hiring of Rodney Childers as the crew chief for the No. 1 car in the NASCAR O?Reilly Auto Parts Series, where he will work with drivers Connor Zilisch and Carson Kvapil. Childers, a seasoned crew chief with a notable history in the NASCAR Cup Series, has participated in 685 races, securing 40 victories. After leaving Spire Motorsports earlier this year, he expressed his eagerness to return to competition and lead a team. Dale Earnhardt Jr, a close friend of Childers, praised his extensive experience and emphasized the strength of their long-standing relationship. Childers himself expressed excitement about joining the JR Motorsports team, highlighting the impressive legacy built by Dale, Kelley, and Mr. H. He looks forward to guiding Zilisch and Kvapil, both of whom he believes have promising futures in NASCAR.
